MOSCOW
The Russian foreign minister has warned Ukraine about joining NATO.
In an interview Thursday on the channel "Rossiya," Sergei Lavrov expressed his feelings on the question of NATO membership for Ukraine.
"The very idea of Ukraine's aspirations to join NATO is dangerous for the Ukrainian people, and the security of Europe. Some Western nations want to maintain the confrontation, feeding provocative aspirations," the foreign minister said in the interview.
Ukraine's parliament ratified legislation annulling its previous non-aligned status Tuesday, a move which could be seen as a definite step toward becoming member of NATO.
