ISLAMABAD
"We have adopted a course of decisions on changing the content, goals and structure of Developing 8 (D-8) countries. There will be a "wise men committee", and cooperation among countries will be enhanced" said Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Thursday.
Davutoglu, who spoke to Turkish media following his meeting with Sartaj Aziz, Pakistani Premier's national security and foreign policy advisor, stressed the volume of trade among D-8 countries, saying the current volume almost reached 2 trillion dollars from 434 billion dollars in 1997.
"There are amazing changes in many aspects. With Turkey presiding next term, D-8 will direct the changing conditions after economic crisis," said Davutoglu.
After having meetings with Pakistan PM Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, advisor Sartaj Aziz, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Pakistani President Mamnoon Husain, Davutoglu departed for Turkey.
