US House passes massive tax-cut and spending bill
House passes One Big Beautiful Bill Act after concurring with Senate amendment by vote of 218-214, with Trump expected to sign bill Friday

WASHINGTON
The US House of Representatives passed a massive tax-cut and spending bill Thursday, sending it to President Donald Trump’s desk for his signature.
The legislation, passed by a vote of 218-214, will cement many of Trump's domestic policy goals into law while adding $3.4 trillion to the nation's debt.
“On this vote, the yeas are 218, the nays are 214. The motion is adopted," said House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Following the adoption, lawmakers on the floor chanted "USA."
The vote came after House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries set a new record for the longest uninterrupted speech in the chamber as he delivered remarks opposing the bill during a floor debate, surpassing former Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s record by talking for eight hours and 44 minutes.
- 'Biggest bill of its kind ever signed'
Republican Reps. Thomas Massie and Brian Fitzpatrick sided with all Democrats in voting against the bill, which was approved by the Senate on Tuesday in a 51-50 vote after Vice President JD Vance broke the tie.
Congratulating “everyone” on the passage of Trump's “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” Vance said on X that "at times I even doubted we’d get it done by July 4! But now we’ve delivered big tax cuts and the resources necessary to secure the border. Promises made, promises kept!"
Speaking to reporters as he left Washington, DC en route to Iowa, Trump congratulated Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune for the bill’s passage.
"The biggest bill of its kind ever signed — and it's going to make this country into a rocket ship. It's going to be really great," Trump said.
The president said he will sign the bill at 5 pm local time (2100GMT) on Friday.
"We're going to have B-2s and F-22s and F-35s flying right over the White House...so we'll be signing with those beautiful planes flying right over our heads," he added.
