ISLAMABAD

Pakistan and the EU on Saturday reaffirmed their commitment to a “multidimensional, forward-looking partnership,” according to an official statement.

During the 7th Strategic Dialogue held in Brussels and co-chaired by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, the two sides discussed and reviewed the full spectrum of Pakistan-EU relations, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said.

"Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a broad-based, multidimensional and forward-looking partnership anchored in shared values, the UN Charter, multilateralism, and the principles of mutual respect and cooperation," the readout said.

The two sides emphasized the need to further strengthen trade and investment relations, particularly by leveraging the EU’s GSP+ scheme, to support sustainable growth, diversify exports, create jobs, and expand mutually beneficial economic opportunities.

Dar and Kallas also exchanged views on regional and global developments, including South Asia, Afghanistan, the Middle East, and broader geopolitical developments.

Both sides underlined the importance of coordinated approaches to peace, stability, sustainable development, and global challenges such as climate change and connectivity.

They also agreed to strengthen cooperation under the Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP 2019), advance work on ongoing dialogues, and identify concrete avenues to expand collaboration in the years ahead.

Bilateral trade in goods between the EU and Pakistan stood €12 billion (approximately $13.2 billion) in 2024.
