China’s Huawei launches next-generation HarmonyOS 6 operating system
System introduces seamless compatibility between iPhone, iPad, Mac, allowing users to transfer files effortlessly between Huawei, Apple devices

Chinese tech firm Huawei launched its next-generation operating system, HarmonyOS 6, on Wednesday, with upgrades in performance, intelligence, cross-device connectivity and enhanced security, the Global Times reported.
The company said the new system will be available immediately for more than 90 devices, promising a seamless and convenient interactive user experience.
The launch marked a significant step for China’s domestic operating systems, with deep artificial intelligence (AI) integration and improved cross-ecosystem connectivity offering smarter and safer experiences, Wang Peng, an associate researcher at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, told Global Times
According to the company, HarmonyOS 6 provides users with improved intelligent security features, including a new AI-powered fraud prevention system. The feature helps safeguard users and their families against potential fraud risks, with a focus on family fraud protection.
In addition, HarmonyOS 6 introduces seamless compatibility between iPhone, iPad and Mac, allowing users to transfer files effortlessly between Huawei and Apple devices. The new multi-device connectivity feature bridges the gap between iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
HarmonyOS is an open-source operating system built for a wide range of devices and use cases. Huawei said as of Wednesday, HarmonyOS 5 has been installed on 23 million devices.
