LONDON
British Muslim Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Sajjad Karim will be leading the Advisory Committee on the Conduct of Members which works to stop unethical behavior by MEPs.
Newly appointed Karim is a Conservative MEP and Conservative Legal Affairs spokesperson who will be chairing the Advisory Committee on the Conduct of Members which ensures all MEPs follow the "Code of Conduct".
Introduced in January 2012 for the first time, one of the Code of Conduct goals is to prohibit MEPs from receiving expensive gifts and forces them to declare any extra payments they receive in order to rule out accusations of bribery, corruption or cronyism.
Karim is the only British MEP to serve on the Advisory Committee.
