January's tariff for Turkey's electricity and natural gas prices remains unchanged, said Energy and Natural Resources Minister of Turkey, on Wednesday.
"There is no new adjustment in the electricity and natural gas prices," said Turkey's Energy Minister, Taner Yildiz, who added that "the new pricing is under the authority of the automatic pricing mechanism."
Yildiz warned that with the privatization of electricity distribution companies, the reading of electricity bills and the late collection of electricity bills may cause problems for the distributions companies.
He said that if electricity meters are read late for any reason, it will be the distribution companies that will suffer economic losses rather than the end consumers.
"We will continue with the national tariff for electricity pricing, because if we consider the regional tariff, electricity prices in Kocaeli city will be 0.20 lira and 0.45 lira in the city of Sirnak, and currently this is not the correct thing to do," he said.
