Turkey's total oil imports dropped by 22.7% to 3.08 million tonnes in May this year compared to the same month last year, according to data of Turkey's energy watchdog on Thursday.
Crude oil imports, the category with the highest oil import volume, decreased by 12.6% during that period down to 2.33 million tonnes, Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly oil market report.
In May 2020, Turkey imported the highest amount of crude from Iraq at 1.35 million tonnes. Saudi Arabia and Russia followed with 508,779 tonnes and 358,751 tonnes, respectively.
Oil refinery product output decreased by 11.3% to 2.52 million tonnes this May. While diesel production was up 20.3% to 1.29 million tonnes, gasoline production decreased by nearly 41% to 241,568 tonnes.
Total domestic oil product sales in May dropped by 25.7% to 1.82 million tonnes compared to the same month of 2019.
