Continuing its global expansion, the Anadolu Agency on Thursday signed cooperation and subscription agreements with media in the autonomous Russian republics.

AA signed cooperation agreements with five institutions and 12 subscription agreements in the republics of Dagestan, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia.

As part of its centennial vision, the AA plans to be among the world’s top five news agencies, and to broadcast in 11 languages by 2020. The agency currently broadcasts in Turkish, Arabic, English, Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, Russian, Kurdish and French.

The agency will now also publish news in Karachay, Abkhaz, Circassian and Nogai languages.

The North Caucasus republics displayed great interest in the Anadolu Agency and its offer in publishing in local languages, said AA Marketing and Sales Manager Sedat Otlu and Vugar Novruzoglu from the agency’s Caucasus regional office.

Editor-in-chief Ali Kemalov of a Dagestan newspaper, which publishes in Avar, one of the republic's official languages – said the agreement would contribute to the further development of relations between Dagestan and Turkey, and improve the flow of news between them.

The agreements will allow the region to follow the developments for Caucasus minorities living in Turkey, said Kamil Aliyec, editor of a newspaper, which publishes in Kumyk, a Turkic language.

AA has begun marketing its photos with broader global coverage thanks to an agreement signed with Getty Images in March, as well as through other leading photo agencies such as AFP Imageforum, DPA, Scanpix, Contacto and VI Images.

AA is already a well-established global news agency offering newswires in seven languages, with operations in most major regions around the globe, including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Asia-Pacific, serves business customers in more than 100 countries.

The agency is the first place creative and media professionals turn to discover, purchase and manage images and other digital content.
