Saudi-led coalition warplanes carried out fresh airstrikes Monday on locations belonging to Shiite Houthi militants in eastern and central Yemen, tribal sources have said.
"Five coalition airstrikes targeted Houthi sites in the Sirwah district of the eastern Maarib province," tribal sources told The Anadolu Agency.
Information on the number of casualties and extent of damage caused by the airstrikes remains unclear, sources said.
In the central province of Ibb, coalition fighter jets targeted Houthi sites in a village located in Saddah district, eyewitnesses told AA.
"The strikes destroyed the house of a leading Houthi member, and bombings are still ongoing in the area," one witness said.
Houthi leaders could not be reached for an immediate comment on the sources' claims, and the Riyadh-led coalition spokesman has yet to issue an official statement on Monday's airstrikes.
Fractious Yemen has remained in turmoil since last September, when Houthi militants overran capital Sanaa before extending their influence to other parts of the country.
In late March, Saudi Arabia and several Arab allies launched a military campaign against the positions of the Houthis across Yemen.
Riyadh says the anti-Houthi campaign is in response to appeals by embattled President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi – currently in Riyadh – for help against the Shiite militia.
The Houthis, for their part, denounce the ongoing offensive as unwarranted "Saudi-American aggression" on Yemen.
