Egypt's Supreme Constitutional Court ruled that a third of the legislature was elected illegally.
The Spokesperson for the Court, Maher Sami, said that the makeup of the entire legislature is illegal and that new elections for the entire parliament would have to be held.
After Thursday's decision of the Court, Egyptian High Military Council will assume legislative authority.
Egypt's state run TV channel Ertu 1 has said that the High Military Council will make up the committee for the constitution.
The Islamist-dominated parliament was elected about six months ago.
