MADRID
A police officer and a robber were killed during an attempted bank robbery in Spain’s northwestern Vigo city Friday, local media reported.
Spanish media said two people including a police officer and a bank clerk were wounded in an exchange of fire, when one of the robbers waiting outside the bank encountered the police.
The 36-year-old police officer died at the hospital, while his 41-year-old colleague remained in critical condition, the reports added.
Eyewitnesses were also quoted as saying that at least 20 gunshots were fired.
