Free Syrian Army kills 30 regime soldiers

DAMASCUS

At least 30 Assad regime soldiers have been killed in clashes with the Free Syrian Army forces, according to the Syrian Revolution General Commission.

The commission said on Tuesday fierce clashes had taken place in the El-Muleiha region of Damascus where Syrian army jets intensely shelled rebels.

The town of Muleiha in the south of Damascus, remained under the control of Syrian rebels, but last month the town was taken over by Assad forces.

Syria has been gripped by fighting since the regime launched a violent crackdown in response to anti-government protests in March 2011, triggering a conflict that has spiraled into civil war.

More than 191,000 people have been killed in the country since the start of Syrian civil war, according to latest UN figures.
