The Israeli army detained in the early hours of Tuesday 16 Palestinians, including a woman, from several cities in the West Bank, according to a local NGO.

"An Israeli military force detained 15 Palestinians, including a woman, from Hebron," the Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a statement.

It added that a young Palestinian was, meanwhile, detained from his home in eastern Bethlehem.

This, according to the NGO, brings to 1286 the number of Palestinians detained by Israel since June.

At least 60 Palestinians were injured in late night clashes with Israeli troops in different areas across the occupied West Bank.

The most violent clashes were in Hebron, where 15 Palestinians were injured by live ammunition and 25 others by rubber bullets fired by Israeli troops against protesters who took to the streets in solidarity with the embattled Gaza Strip.

Injuries were also reported during similar clashes in Bethlehem, Ramallah, Silwad and Nablus, medical sources said.

Thousands of Palestinians converged late Monday on the streets of the occupied territory to show support for Gaza which has been reeling under massive Israeli attacks since July 7.

At least 590 Palestinians – mostly civilians – have been killed and thousands injured in the unrelenting Israeli attacks on the besieged coastal enclave.

Israel's military operation, dubbed "Operation Protective Edge," is the self-proclaimed Jewish state's third major offensive against the densely-populated Gaza Strip – which is home to some 1.8 million Palestinians – within the last six years.
