19 militants were killed in the last 24 hours in military operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan, along with one soldier fatality from an explosion, officials said.
According to a Defense Ministry statement, 8 militants were also captured during operations in the last 24 hours in the eastern province of Paktia and northern province of Faryab.
The military forces seized a considerable amount of explosives and 23 motorcycles. They defused 42 bombs in different regions that were placed by the Taliban on roadsides.
According to officials, a roadside bomb exploded in the northeastern province of Kunar killing one Afghan soldier.
After the Taliban seized some areas in Faryab's Qaysar district a week ago, violence erupted in Afghanistan last week which resulted in more than 30 Taliban militants being killed in clashes between the Afghan army and the Taliban.
