Iraq: Four female students killed in roadside bomb attack
IED targets high school female students' bus in Diyala province
DIYALA, Iraq
Four female students were killed and six others were injured Tuesday in a roadside bomb attack in Diyala province, a police source said.
“An improvised explosive device [IED] went off while a bus carrying high school female students was passing on the road between Baqubah city and al-Abbara area north of it,”a police source told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity.
Diyala province has been sporadically witnessing suicide attacks that target both civilians and security personnel.
Iraq was plunged into a security vacuum in June 2014 when Daesh stormed the northern province of Mosul and declared what it called a caliphate in Iraq and Syria.
