Turkey's EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said that "with today's meeting, Turkey has proven that it is a source of energy for Europe".
Bagis and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz spoke to Turkish journalists following a summit meeting on energy with European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule and European Commissioner for energy Gunther Oettinger on Thursday in Stuttgart.
Our meeting with Fule and Oettinger was highly meaningful. Turkey has proven with today's meeting that it is a source of energy for Europe, Bagis stressed.
Turkey is geographically close to energy sources that Europe needs. Turkey is an important source of inspiration for Europe in overcoming crisis pertaining to energy, Bagis noted.
Turkey is no longer just a bridge between Asia and Europe. Turkey is now a bridge between Europe's problems and their solutions, Bagis underlined.
Minister Yildiz, in his part, said that today's meeting was very beneficial.
We discussed today issues such as long term scenarios, all aspects of energy, natural gas and electricity, nuclear power plants, and encouragement of a liberal market, Yildiz also said.
