Turkey: Experts forecast inflation to go down in June

ANKARA 

Turkey’s consumer prices are forecast to rise by 0.19  percent in June from May, a group of senior economists surveyed by Anadolu Agency said on Monday. 

A panel of 21 economists made the estimates; the highest estimate was 0.40 percent while the lowest stood at negative 0.69 percent.

The economists expect that inflation in the country decreased to 7.55 percent in June from 8.09 percent in May 2015. 

Year-end inflation is predicted at 7.64 percent, which is an average taken from estimates ranging between 8.40 percent and 6.80 percent. 

The Turkish Statistical Institute will release official inflation figures on Friday, July 3.

According to figures published by TurkStat in May, consumer prices rose by 0.56 percent from April, and rose by 8.09 percent compared with May of last year.
