Gunman storms ruling AK Party's office in Istanbul

ISTANBUL

At least one gunman has stormed a local office of the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AK Party, in Istanbul’s Kartal district, police sources have said.

The gunman threatened people inside of the office on Wednesday and forced them to leave the building before he broke windows as he shouted slogans, the sources added.

The attacker then hanged a Turkish flag decorated with the figure of a sword from the office.

 

Turkish police take AK Party attacker into custody 

Special police forces took into custody a gunman who stormed a local office of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party, in Istanbul’s Kartal district on Wednesday.

After the incident, special forces dispatched to the area, conducted a raid and took the attacker into custody without any further incident.

Mehdi Akman, Kartal’s chairman of the AK party, said the attacker was not known to them
