No Turkish citizens dead in Saudi hotel fire

There is no Turkish citizen dead, only one injured among Medina fire victims, says Turkey’s directorate of religious affairs.

No Turkish citizens dead in Saudi hotel fire

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia 

Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs announced on Sunday that the searches are finalized and one Turkish citizen has ben injured, but there are no Turkish citizens among the people who died in a fire at the Ishraq Al Madinah Hotel in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

17 people died and another 141 were injured.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, an official from Turkey's Directorate of Religious Affairs, Celebi Akkurt said that a delegation has searched all the hospitals in the city following the concerns that there might be Turkish citizens staying at the hotel.

Indicating that two Turkish groups were staying at the hotel where the fire erupted, Akkurt said: “Turkish citizens were visiting the city center during the fire.”

Akkurt also added that 141 people were injured and one of them is a Turkish citizen.

The fire erupted in Ishraq Al Madinah Hotel where 700 Umrah pilgrim visitors of different nationalities were staying, in the Medina province of Saudi Arabia.
