Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) decided to open new Internet distribution center both in Turkey and Singapore for controlling Internet traffic in neighbouring countries.
Turkish Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication Binali Yildirim said Thursday that they had come to an agreement with ICANN to establish a new Internet distribution center in Turkey, from where all the Internet traffic in neighbouring countries was administrated and stored.
"Turkey will be the crossroad of Internet traffic," said Yildirim. "Turkey has shown significant improvement in information area in recent years. Turkey became the first country in Europe in mobile communication in terms of service area and monthly amount of telephone usage."
