The Secretary General of the OIC, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Monday hosted a fast-breaking meal for OIC staff members and representatives of diplomatic missions in Jeddah.

Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) following the fast-breaking meal, Ihsanoglu said that they were working for their Muslim brothers and sisters in Myanmar.

"They are going through tough days. We have began diplomatic initiatives in the international arena, including the United Nations, for our brothers and sisters in Myanmar. My staff members and I are in an effort to draw the world's attention to Myanmar," Ihsanoglu underlined.

During the fast-breaking meal on Monday, the ambassadors of various countries and I discussed the problem in Myanmar, Ihsanoglu noted.

"The representatives of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states will convene in Malaysia on August 3 and hold talks to find a solution to the problem in Myanmar," Ihsanoglu indicated.

"We are working day and night to draw the world's attention to the Muslims in Myanmar, beginning with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. We are in a process of diplomatic traffic," Ihsanoglu stated.

"The ambassadors of OIC member states came together in Geneva and discussed Myanmar. We have sent letters to the UN Secretary General and the UN Human Rights Commission on Myanmar," Ihsanoglu said.

"We have also sent letters to high level officials in Myanmar to organize various meetings and to be able to study the incidents on site," Ihsanoglu noted.

"In a letter sent to the President of Myanmar, Thein Sein, I have asked them to intervene in incidents taking place and to end the pressure applied on the Muslims," Ihsanoglu underlined.

"Following my letter, we have seen President Sein taking some steps," Ihsanoglu noted.

"In a letter sent to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, I have asked him to make initiatives in order to be influential on the government of Myanmar. We have informed Ban that the OIC was ready to provide any assistance needed," Ihsanoglu also said.
