Fenerbahce thrashed Caykur Rizespor 5-1 in Spor Toto Super League match in northern Rize province on Saturday.

Turkish midfielder Mehmet Topuz scored the leading goal for Fenerbahce in the 5th minute. Three minutes later Senegalese forward Moussa Sow doubled the gap with a header; Pierre Webo made the assist. In the 35th minute Sow skipped past a number of Caykur Rizespor players and finished in a one-on-one position, making it three for the away team.

Visitors Fenerbahce finished the job in the first half by scoring three goals.

Fenerbahce goalkeeper Volkan Demirel was obliged to leave the pitch in the first half due to injury. In addition his teammate Bruno Alves was also subbed-out in half time, seemingly in pain.

In the 49th minute Webo scored the fourth goal for his team when the Fenerbahce striker was free in the six-yard box. Six minutes later left-back Caner Erkin found the net from free-kick: 5-0.

In the 62nd minute home team Caykur Rizespor found what would be their consolation goal when their forward Deniz Kadah put the ball into the net in close range. Deniz tapped the ball deflected by Fenerbahce goalkeeper Mert Gunok: 1-5.

Near the end of the game Fenerbahce midfielder Mehmet Topuz went off because of injury. 

Raising their points to 56 in Spor Toto Super League standings, Fenerbahce came out on top of the league.

After the match, Fenerbahce's bus was assaulted between Rize-Trabzon highway. The driver of the bus has been critically wounded and carried to hospital.
