UEFA Champions League action continued last night with a Group A win for Atletico Madrid courtesy of Turkish winger Arda Turan.

Atletico defeated Juventus 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon Stadium last night while in Group B their city rivals Real Madrid scraped a narrow win against Bulgarian team Ludogorets by 2-1.

Ludogorets took the lead with an early goal scored by Marcelinho but Real hit back with goals scored by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and French forward Karim Benzema.

Swiss club Basel beat Liverpool in a 1-0 away win thanks to 33-year-old striker Marco Streller.

Turkish side Galatasaray were torn apart 4-1 in north London by Arsenal. Danny Welbeck's hat-trick did the damage while an extra goal by Chilean explosive forward Alexis Sanchez left the Istanbul club dead and buried.

The Turkish team's consolation goal was scored by Burak Yilmaz from the penalty spot in the second half.

Despite being in trouble in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund has been putting in a good performance in the Champions League. Dortmund defeated Belgian side Anderlecht 3-0 in Brussels. Dortmund's Italian forward Ciro Immobile scored an early goal at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium; teammate Adrian Ramos' brace clinched victory for the German side.

On Tuesday Manchester City drew against Roma 1-1 their Group E clash. Thirty-eight-year-old Roma captain Francesco Totti made history in Manchester by scoring a precious equalizer for his team making him the oldest scorer in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich defeated CSKA Moscow 1-0 in Khimki with Thomas Muller finding the net with a penalty in the first half. The game in Russia was played behind closed doors as a punishment for racist chants from some CSKA Moscow fans during a Champions League match against Viktoria Plzen in the Czech Republic last season.

The Group F game between Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona thrilled fans. The Parc des Princes clash between the two heavyweights ended in a 3-2 victory for the French side. PSG saw goals from David Luiz, Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi. Barcelona's two international skippers, Neymar and Lionel Messi's goals were not enough to snatch even a draw in Paris.

PSG’s Swedish talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sidelined for this match due to injury as were teammates Thiago Silva and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

English club Chelsea toppled Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon 1-0 in their Group G match. Chelsea's Serbian defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic's goal saved the day for English side.

In Group H, Shakhtar Donetsk was stunned by Porto in their temporary home of Lviv in western Ukraine. Shakhtar was in a good position after Alex Teixeira and Luiz Adriano's goals but Porto's Jackson Martinez brought his team back from the brink by finding the net twice in the last moments of the game to earn a surprise 2-2 draw.
