ANKARA

The third week of Spain’s La Liga ended on Monday night with a 1-0 win for Galician side Deportivo La Coruna against Basque minnows Eibar.

Deportivo snatched the away win thanks to Juan Dominguez's goal in the 13th minute.

Atletico Madrid beat city rivals Real Madrid 2-1 on Saturday night. Turkish star Arda Turan scored the winning goal for his team in the Madrid derby played at Real’s home ground of Santiago Bernabeu.

Atletico took the lead early when their midfielder Tiago headed the ball towards the goal from a corner kick in the 10th minute. However Real Madrid equalized, with their Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo scoring from the penalty spot in the 26th minute to make 1-1.

The second half started tightly; Real Madrid were effective on the offense with Ronaldo's efforts prompting Atletico to try and score on counter attacks.

Coming on in the 61st minute, Arda scored the winning goal for the Atleti, finding the bottom corner of the net. The ball brushed Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas but went in, making 2-1.
