Three-all draw with Werder Bremen sees Leverkusen become league leaders; current champions Bayern Munich beat Stuttgart 2-0 at home in third week of Bundesliga action

Football: Bayer Leverkusen top German Bundesliga

ANKARA

Week three in Germany's Bundesliga ended on Sunday night with a win for the reigning champions.

Bayern Munich eased past Stuttgart 2-0 at home on Saturday. German attacking midfielder Mario Gotze and French winger Franck Ribery scored for the Bavarian giants.

Borussia Dortmund defeated Freiburg 3-1 at Signal Iduna Park. "Die Schwarzgelben" [The Black and Yellows] won through goals from Adrian Ramos, Shinji Kagawa and Pierre Aubameyang. Freiburg’s single goal came from Oliver Sorg in 90th minute.

Gelsenkirchen club Schalke 04 was torn apart 4-1 by Borussia Monchengladbach. The home team took the victory thanks to goals from Andre Hahn – who found the net twice – Max Kruse and Raffael. Schalke's consolation goal was a penalty scored by Eric Choupo Moting.

Bayer Leverkusen drew against Werder Bremen 3-3 in their home stadium, BayArena on Friday. Turkish attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu scored Leverkusen's second goal. Despite the draw Bayer Leverkusen moved to the top of the league.
