Turkish footballer Tore randomly shot in shoulder

ISTANBUL

Turkish football club Besiktas's star player Gokhan Tore was shot in the shoulder in an random attack in Istanbul early Monday. 

The attack took place at around 0400 am (local time) at a night club in the Sisli district of the city. Tore was not the direct target of the attack.

A gunman fired his gun at a woman and into the club randomly where Tore along with five others were hit, a statement from Besiktas club said. The club also said that Tore had no connection with the attacker. 

The player was taken to hospital for surgery and hospital sources describe his condition as good.  

Police have begun an investigation into the attack.
