Iraq: Blasts kill 13, injure 38

BAGHDAD 

Thirteen people, including five Iraqi police officers, were killed and 38 others injured in separate violent incidents in Iraq, security officials said Saturday.

Blasts occurred in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad and in the province of Diyala on Saturday.

According to Baghdad security sources, one Iraqi police officer was killed and four others were injured when an improvised explosive device went off in the Arab Jabbar area in southern Baghdad. 

Another eight people were killed and 29 others injured in separate roadside bomb explosions in al-Kifah, al-Jadida and Zaferanieh districts of eastern Baghdad.

A third blast killed four police officers and injured five people in the eastern Iraqi province of Diyala, regional security sources said.
