Resolving Ukraine conflict 'is Serbia's priority'

BELGRADE

Solving the situation in Ukraine is a priority for Belgrade, Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has said as Serbia took over the chair of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

His comments came on Thursday as his country took over the chairing of the OSCE for 2015 from Switzerland on Thursday.

Dacic said in a statement on the Government of Serbia website that Serbia would "deal with the situation in Ukraine, based on respect for the peace agreement of all parties."

"Serbia intends to make every effort to find a political solution (and) its priority will be working on the long-term conflict, where it will share its experience as a country that recently experienced conflicts and that was in transition towards democracy," he said.

He said Serbia would also focus on the "fight against terrorism" and implementation of human rights.
