KIEV
The Ukrainian parliament approved Tuesday the new cabinet of ministers following the country’s general elections held late October.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s conservative party, the People’s Front, won the elections held October 26.
The new government was approved by 288 votes in favor, with the minimum of 226 votes required for the cabinet to be approved.
Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, Stepan Poltorak as minister of defense were approved for their posts in separate votes.
The new cabinet includes three foreigners, who received Ukrainian citizenship to join the newly formed government. Among them are U.S. native Natalie Jaresko as finance minister, Lithuanian Aivaras Abromavicius as economy minister and Health Minister Aleksander Kvitashvili from Georgia.
Prime Minister Yatsenyuk will remain at his post, like many of other ministers, including Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.
The new cabinet was sworn in and took office after the Ukrainian parliament’s approval.
