ANBAR

At least 10 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militants and two soldiers were killed on Monday in clashes between the Iraqi army and ISIL militants in Anbar’s Ramadi district, Iraqi security sources have said.

Four soldiers were also wounded in the clashes between ISIL militants and the army.

Colonel Hamid Chanduch, a police officer from Ramadi, confirmed that 10 militants and two soldiers were killed and that four soldiers were wounded in clashes in Ramadi's Huz district, as well as some other regions.

The Iraqi army and Iraqi Kurdish Peshmerga forces have been battling ISIL in Iraq since mid-June, when the terrorist group took control of Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq.

The militant group is said to now be in control of large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.

The U.S. is leading an international coalition, which includes France, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, and has carried out numerous airstrikes against ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
