The Chairman of the Turkish Red Crescent Aid Society Ahmet Lutfi Akar told Anadolu Agency they relentlessly distributed aid all around the world.
"Turkey has provided an aid of $2.5 billion in 2012 and this is a hard to believe figure. If you had mentioned this number ten years ago, no one would have believed you. Turkey provided aid to Africa, Asia, Central America and did this just with the purpose of humanitarian relief," Akar said.
The Turkish Red Crescent provided humanitarian aid to 70 different states in the last five years, he noted.
Stating that they have sent aid to the zero point in the Turkey-Syria border, Akar said they also delivered aid to nearly all of Africa in the last three years.
Also reminding of their support to the flood affected areas in Sudan and Pakistan, Akar also touched on their extensive support in Somalia.
Upon being asked of the attacks on Turkish aid organizations, Akar said, "The people in the regions we deliver aid have no negative feeling of any kind towards us. However, some powers can't bear Turkey's existence in the African region and undermine our efforts, just like in Somalia."
