The Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, strongly condemned the speech of Secretary General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah in which he threatened of greater involvement of his party in the Syrian civil war upon the recent bombings in the strongholds of the Shia group in Lebanon.

Saudi state news agency SPA said the Secretary General of GCC described the speech of Nasrallah as "irresponsible" and "contradictory" where he warned of greater involvement of his party in the Syrian fight in a blatant interference in their internal affairs and a clear aggression on the Syrian sovereignty.

"At the same time that he calls for self restraint, he threatens the Syrians that his party will be more involved in fighting them," Al-Zayani said in a Monday press statement.

"This is a flagrant meddling in their (Syrians') internal affairs and an obvious violation of the Syrian sovereignty," he said, describing Nasrallah's speech of being "irresponsible".

"Nasrallah continues to boast about the participation of his militia in slaughtering children, women and innocent Syrians, and destroying their towns and property," Zayani said.

He even boasts that he is "ready to double the number of his militia fighters and even to join the fight himself against the Syrian people," Zayani added.

He argued that Nasrallah also threatened the Lebanese people of more involvement in the Syrian crisis in indifference to Lebanon's security, stability, sectarian relations and peaceful coexistence.

Making a televised speech on August 16, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah challenged that his party was ready to step up its military involvement in Syria in response to attacks targeting the group and its strongholds in Lebanon.

"I will go myself to Syria if it is necessary in the battle against the takfiris (Sunni radicals)," he said on his own TV channel, blaiming radical Sunni Muslim militants for the bombing attack on a Beirut suburb, killing 22 people.

Hundreds were also injured in the evening bomb attack carried out on Thursday, which was claimed by the Battalions of Ayesha, in a Shia area of Beirut known to be a stronghold of Hezbollah.

Comprised of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, oil-rich GCC countries have imposed sanction on Hezbollah over its support for Assad.
