DOHA
Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has called on the Arab leaders to help the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
Ihsanoglu delivered a speech at the Arab League's 24th Ordinary Summit in the Qatari capital of Doha.
Emphasizing that the Rohingya Muslims were the most oppressed people in the world, Ihsanoglu said, "Rohingya Muslims call on Arab leaders to put pressure on the Myanmar government for them to gain the right of citizenship."
Drawing attention to the crisis in Syria, Ihsanoglu said, "The Syrian regime is responsible for the violence and killings in Syria. As OIC we insist on the resolution of the Syrian crisis peacefully. We also call on the international society and the UN Security Council to fulfill their responsibility to end violence."
Also touching on the illegal settlements of Israel, Ihsanoglu said, "We have to work on different axis to end Israel's attacks and international violations."
