Syria: Regime barrel bomb attacks kill 30 in Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria

At least 30 people lost their lives Wednesday in two regime barrel bomb attacks on opposition-controlled areas in Aleppo province, the opposition said.

The Local Coordination Committees of Syria said 16 people were killed, including a number of women and children in Tal Rifaat town.

Moreover, 14 people were killed in Aleppo in another barrel bomb attack.

Scores of people were injured in both attacks as well as many buildings sustained severe damage.

The Local Coordination Committees of Syria are groups of local Syrian activists who oppose the Assad regime and publish news via social media websites.

Syria has been gripped by constant fighting since the Assad regime launched a violent crackdown in response to anti-government protests in March 2011, triggering a conflict that has killed more than 220,000.
