The President of Dagestan, a federal republic of Russia in the North Caucasus region, stated Friday that there were many areas in which Dagestan and Turkey could agree to cooperate.

“Turkey is among the top ten countries Dagestan cooperated with in 2013,” said President Abdulatipov.

According to Abdulatipov, trading volume between the two countries was $28 million in 2013 and said it should be at least $1 billion.

“It is very important for us to strengthen trade and economic relations with Turkey,” Dagestan’s president said. “There are many areas in which Dagestan and Turkey could cooperate, and Dagestan is ready to provide suitable conditions for Turkish businessmen to build businesses here.”

Dagestan’s President Ramazan Abdulatipov received the mayor of the northwestern Turkish city of Yalova, Vefa Salman and the delegation accompanying him.

Yalova signed a protocol with Dagestan’s town Khasavyurt, making the two sister cities.
