Turkey says G20 in 2015 to focus on inclusive growth

ANKARA

G20 in 2015 will focus its efforts on ensuring inclusive and robust growth through collective action, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Cevdet Yilmaz said Thursday.

Addressing global business leaders at the B20 meeting in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Thursday, Yilmaz said: "Financial volatility, which the global economy passed through, makes this year's G20 summit even more important."

Financial volatility refers to high levels of foreign exchange fluctuations.

Yılmaz, a former development minister, recently took over as the deputy prime minister in charge of the economy in the country’s interim government.

He said that the G20 in 2015 would focus its efforts on ensuring inclusive and robust growth through collective action.

"Under Turkish presidency, we are building on previous presidencies' agenda and will ensure a seamless continuity in the G20, while introducing new elements to ensure decisive collective action to provide inclusive and robust growth," he said.

Yilmaz said that the biggest problem facing the world economy was credibility deficit. "It is clear that the sooner we close this deficit, confidence and strong growth will occur, and it will bring a sustainable growth," he said.

Turkey took over the G20 presidency on Dec. 1, 2014.

G20 or Group of Twenty refers to the group of 20 leading economies of the world.
