At least 2,223 Syrians were killed in May as a result of the country's civil war, a report released on Monday by the Syrian Network for Human Rights said.

According to the figures, regime forces and their loyal militias were responsible for killing 1,713 people, including 1,381 civilians and 332 fighters. Also, civilians killed by the regime included 236 children, 186 women and 82 people who were killed as a result of torture.

The report says the rate of children and women victims among the civilian death toll was 31 percent, which indicates the intentional targeting of civilians.

Daesh killed 301 people, including 104 fighters and 197 civilians. The rest of the casualties were caused by other opposition groups, including the Syrian Kurdish forces.

The rights group said its statistics do not include the death toll of Daesh militants or regime forces.
