At least 25 people have died in the past 24 hours due to heavy rains in Pakistan, according to reports from the army and local media.

The army's media wing, Inter Services Public Relations, said eight people, including four children, were killed when a building collapsed near the capital Islamabad. Rescue workers and army troops managed to pull five others from the rubble injured but alive.

Local media in Pakistan have reported most of the deaths in northeastern and northwestern parts of the country where there has been heavy rain and snowfall over the past three days.
