Turkey and Cameroon on Tuesday signed an "Agreement for Encouragement and Protection of Mutual Investments" in Ankara.
Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan signed the agreement on behalf of Turkey while Foreign Minister Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo signed it on behalf of Cameroon at a ceremony held in the Economy Ministry in Ankara.
Speaking at the ceremony, Zafer Caglayan said that he hoped the agreement would be beneficial for the two countries.
Cameroon is a door for Turkey to enter Central and Western Africa and the country is a strong commercial and economic partner of Turkey, Caglayan said.
As the Turkish government, we are determined to carry our relations with Cameroon to the highest level possible in all fields, Caglayan noted.
Cameroon aims to become the most important country in its region by the year 2035. I believe that, with its strategic position, Cameroonians will reach such a goal, Caglayan said.
We also have goals to reach by 2023. The star of developing countries will shine in the upcoming term. By giving hand in hand, we can reach our goals together, Caglayan underlined.
The number of investments to increase after today's agreement will contribute to production, employment and tax incomes and will increase our trade volume, Caglayan also said.
Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo, in his part, said that today's agreement will carry bilateral relations forward.
Cameroon is a country of "freedoms". Laws and regulations in Cameroon are investor friendly, Mbonjo stressed.
Cameroon's economy in recent years has grown remarkably. We invite Turkish investors to our country, Mbonjo stated.
Turkish-Cameroonian trade volume stood at 150 million USD in 2011.
