Basketball: Celtics guard Rondo traded to Mavericks

ANKARA

Boston Celtics' U.S. playmaker guard Rajon Rondo will now play for Dallas Mavericks, it was announced Thursday night.

According to the National Basketball Association, Mavericks completed Rondo's trade in exchange for center Brandan Wright, forward Jae Crowder, point guard Jameer Nelson, a 2015 first round pick and a 2016 second round pick as well. In addition, Mavericks added Celtics center Dwight Powell to their squad.

Former Celtics veteran Rondo began his career with the Eastern Conference team in 2006 and was named as the NBA's All-Star four times in a row in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Also, the 28-year-old point guard helped his ex-team Boston Celtics bag the NBA championship in 2008.

Coming into prominence with his assist ability rather than scoring in general, Mavericks' new signing of Rondo is now leading NBA in assists with 10.8 assist average per game this season.

The Mavericks are referred to as NBA's Western Conference team, while the Celtics are also known as the Eastern Conference side.
