"Anadolu Agency has made major breakthroughs within the last years and has expanded its services, moving beyond Turkey's borders with different languages and by organizing worldwide," Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said at the Turkish House in New York.

Arinc, who opened the Anadolu Agency (AA) Photo Exhibition at said AA was one of Turkey's most powerful and deep-rooted institutions, adding that its photographers typically win a "lion's share" of the awards granted by various international photojournalism competitions.

Meanwhile, AA Chairman of the Board and Director General Kemal Ozturk thanked Arinc for his support.

"With the deal we made with Getty Images, all the photographs we take -- whether from Egypt or Erzurum -- are distributed to American press," Ozturk stated. "Our visibility is increasing with each passing day."

Following the opening ceremony, Arinc and guests at the Turkish House viewed the photos in the exhibition.

The Turkish deputy premier is set to inaugurate later on Sunday AA's America Regional Directorate New York Office.
