Snow and harsh weather conditions continue to affect Turkey adversely, with heavy snowfall leading to various accidents and the closure of many schools and roads in rural areas across the country on Friday.

In the eastern part of the Black Sea Region, 10 village roads in the center of Artvin were blocked due to heavy snow and in other Black Sea provinces heavy snow also blocked the village roads on Friday.  A total of 225 roads in Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Gumushane and Bayburt were unusable due to the heavy snowfall and schools were closed on Friday in Rize. In the Tokat province in the Black Sea region, 206 village roads were closed to transportation due to snow.  Public servants were given a day-off due to the heavy snowfall.

In the central Anatolian province of Sivas alone, a total of 221 village roads were blocked. Municipal search teams are working to open village roads again that were previously closed for transportation in the province, the Sivas Special Provincial Administration said in a statement released on Friday.

In the eastern provinces of Van, Bitlis, Mus and Hakkari, 951 village roads were respectively closed on Friday. In Van, 364 village roads were blocked due to heavy snow and blizzards.

It is reported that citizens who were stuck in the Cizre-Nusaybin highway in southeastern part of Turkey asked for food and water from authorities. Lots of articulated trucks which were lined up to enter Turkey were seen making long queues at the Habur Border Gate.

Supplies of food have been left for animals which have difficulty foraging for food due to the extreme weather conditions in the National Park of Spil Mount in Manisa.
