Saudi Arabia on Thursday reported three new coronavirus fatalities and three new infections within the past 24 hours.

The Saudi Health Ministry said in a statement that two Saudi nationals from the western city of Ta'if and a foreign female from Riyadh had succumbed to the virus.

The ministry added that three Saudi nationals – from Riyadh, Ta'if and the northern city of Al-Jawf – had all tested positive for coronavirus.

It went on to note that a Saudi female in Riyadh had recovered from the disease.

The latest infections bring the total number of coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia to 789 since 2012. Meanwhile, total coronavirus fatalities in the country have reached 337 since the virus was first reported in the kingdom two years ago.

Around 16 people are still being treated for the virus, while 436 others have recovered from it.

Also called "Middle East Respiratory Syndrome," coronavirus first appeared in Saudi Arabia in 2012. It has since been found in camels in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Egypt.
