ANKARA (AA)
"Syrian people are killed day and night. They suffer the tragedy of the century under a regime that kills its own people. We will stand on the side of the Syrian people until this cruel regime leaves the country and the bloodshed ends," Morsi told a congress of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Morsi said officials from Turkey, Iran, Egypt and Saudi Arabia met last August in Mecca, adding that the meeting received the backing of the Arab League, the United Nations and many countries in the world.
Morsi said the Arab Spring was still a work in progress, adding "peoples struggling for a rule decided by their own will needs Turkey's support. They will need your support in the aftermath of the revolution too."
The Egyptian president said the AK Party government was focused on economic growth and it had made great progress which he said was closely watched by the world.
"I cannot hide my admiration to the achievements made here. And the entire Egyptian people admire Turkey," he said.
