B'Tselem: Half of Cloud Column victims were Palestinian civilians

CAIRO

B'Tselem, an Israeli Information Center for Human Rights, stated that more than half of the Palestinians, who were killed in an Israeli attack on Gaza on November 14, 2012, were civilians who did not take part in the war.

Jerusalem-based B'Tselem reviewed in a report the harm to civilians in Operation Pillar of Defense as well as the statistics about the number of Palestinians and Israelis killed over the course of the operation, which lasted from November 14 to 21, 2012.
The report stated that more than half of the Palestinians who lost their lives during air, land and sea attacks on Gaza were civilians who did not take part in the war actually.
It was noted in the report that during the Israeli attack, 20 children --youngest of all was 12 years old-- were killed.
Report underscored that Israel carried out "point target" attacks and said, "before carrying out attacks on leaders of Hamas Movement, Israeli army warned civilians in order to evacuate their homes." The report added there was lack of time for residents of Gaza to empty their homes.
Israel's military operation in the Gaza Strip, the "Pillar of Cloud" or known as "Cloud Column", took start on November 14, 2012 and continued for 8 days.
Death toll was 190 and wounded was noted as 1,500 after Israel's eight-day long attacks. On November 21, truce negotiations were held in Cairo, and now the details of the meeting in Egypt started to be revealed.
