MOSCOW
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made a call on the Syrian opposition on Saturday and urged them to "postpone your demands to send away Assad."
Speaking at a joint press conference with the UN and Arab League's Special Envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi in Moscow, Sergey Lavrov stressed that Russia believed the problem in Syria had to be solved through the political process.
"Russia supports neither Assad nor someone else in Syria. What is important for us is the future of the Syrian people," Lavrov noted.
"The Syrian opposition's demand from Assad to leave power unconditionally is wrong. Instead, the Syrian opposition should display a compromising attitude and make clear their views for the future of Syria," Lavrov indicated.
