Turkish minister's plane denied permission to land in Iraq

Turkish plane carrying energy minister was refused permission to land in Irbil as Iraqi civil aviation closed airspace over north of Iraq to all VIP flights.

Turkish minister's plane denied  permission to land in Iraq

ANKARA

Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz was onboard in order to attend Oil and Gas Conference in the city.

Diplomatic officials said that permission was taken from Baghdad for landing of the plane, stating that Iraqi civil aviation officials closed airspace over the north of Iraq to all VIP flights as of 10 a.m. this morning.
Yildiz's plane which took off from Istanbul landed in Kayseri, central province of Turkey.
Yildiz said that he believed misunderstanding would be resolved.
"We will return to Ankara now. I am holding talks with our foreign minister, undersecretary and also Iraq," he said.
