IBM and Twitter partner to transform business decisions

SAN FRANCISCO, United States 

IBM and Twitter announced Wednesday a partnership aiming to transform the way the businesses and institutions understand their customers, markets and trends.

The U.S. based IBM said in a statement that the alliance brings together Twitter data with IBM’s cloud-based analytics, customer engagement platforms, and consulting services.

The IBM Chairman, President and CEO Ginni Rometty said: “Twitter provides a powerful new lens through which to look at the world.”

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo said: “This important partnership with IBM will change the way business decisions are made -- from identifying emerging market opportunities to better engaging."

IBM’s statement said that together with Twitter, the second largest social network in the world, the two companies will deliver a set of enterprise applications to help improve business decisions across industries and professions.

Meanwhile, IBM Global Business Services professionals will have access to Twitter data to enrich consulting services for clients across business, the statement said.

Additionally, IBM and Twitter will collaborate to develop solutions for specific industries such as banking, consumer products, retail, and travel and transportation, the statement added.
