Turkish movie was awarded 'Best Balkan Film' and prominent Turkish actress Turkan Soray received 'Lifetime Achievement Award'

'Butterfly's Dream' scoops up Best Balkan Film award

DURRES, Albania 

Turkish movie "The Butterfly's Dream," directed by famous Turkish filmmaker Yilmaz Erdogan, was given "Best Balkan Film" award at the seventh Durres International Film Festival in Albania on Sunday.

"The Butterfly's Dream," which depicts 1940's Turkey in the days of mobilisation during the Second World War, was released on February 22, 2013.

The film portrays two young poets' struggle with life and love. Turkey's famous stars of the screen - Kivanc Tatlitug, Belcim Bilgin, Mert Firat, Zeynep Farah Abdullah and Yilmaz Erdogan featured in the film.

Prominent Turkish actress Turkan Soray was also present at the film festival as the guest of honor and was given the Life Time Achievement award.

Soray, who starred in more than 150 films, has won Turkish people's heart since the 1960's and earned the nickname the "Sultan of Turkish cinema."

The International Film Summerfest is the main activity of Durres' summer in Albania which is focused on efforts to establish strong ties between Albania, its neighboring countries and Europe. The festival aims to exalt cinema in all its forms and support the mutual circulation of visual culture between Europe and the Balkans.
